Poland announces interest in returning to EUHL

After working meetings with the founders of the Polish university team from Oswiencim on 16.6.2021, EUHA representatives participated in the final accession negotiations with the Vice-Rector of the Malopolska Poland State University, Mr. Paweł Radosław Folga, members of the Polish Ice Hockey Union and President of the Silesian Ice Hockey Union – Ms. Danuta Piorun, Vice Mayor of Oswiencim Mr. Krzysztof Kania,  MOSIR Oswiencim director – Ms. Agata Gworek, Sport Managers of Oswiencim senior hockey club Mr. Pawel Krama and Mariusz Sibik, representatives of the local Secondary Sports School – Mr Jacek Stoch and Krzysztof Szpara, UKH Unia’s Sporting Director Ľubomír Witoszek and president of UKH  Unia Oswiencim Ms. Katarzyny Kot.

Part of the accession negotiation was also a seminar at which EUHA presented the EUHL project to all participating representatives of the hockey union, hockey club, city, university, participating sponsors and also to the media.  Representatives of the Union Oswiencim club, headed by Mr Ľubomír Witoszek, presented a icerink where the university team will play EUHL games, as well as the Malopolska State University, which is attended by players of the university team.  The President of the Ice Hockey Club Katarzyna Kot announced a long-term vision of the university club’s activities in the EUHL and the idiea of the integration of the university team into club structures in order to educate young people – athletes by providing a program from pupils to university students.

Hockey club and university presented at the seminar the name and logo of the university team under which they will operate in EUHL –  SABERS Oswiencim.  EUHA representatives were pleased to note the club’s top background and readiness for the Sekeras Trophy fights in the upcoming EUHL 2021/2022 season.
