ATHLETE OF THE YEAR 2025 – Gala Evening in Nové Mesto nad Váhom

On March 24, 2026, we experienced a truly exceptional evening at the Municipal Cultural Centre – the historic first, introductory edition of the Athlete of the Year 2025 gala, held under the patronage of the city’s mayor.

Many successful athletes and sports teams were awarded for their outstanding achievements over the past year – from Slovak championship titles to representing our country at international events. The evening highlighted just how much talent, determination, and success we have in our city.

The program was enriched by notable figures of Slovak sport – Ľubomír Sekeráš, a true legend of Slovak ice hockey, and Monika Chochlíková, a world champion in Muay Thai. Their presence added a special atmosphere to the event, complemented by an energetic and emotional accompanying program.

A particularly pleasant moment was hearing in the speeches that having so many sports grounds, playgrounds, and facilities in every neighbourhood is far from ordinary. It is proof that sport holds a strong and valued place in Nové Mesto nad Váhom.
