The finals of the playoffs start today

The most exciting part of the season is here. Only two teams left, Gladiators Trencin and UK Praha, and now they are going to compete against each other to win the Sekeras trophy.

Gladiators Trencin and UK Praha are the best teams in the EUHL this season. Gladiators won the regular season right in front of its current opponent. The point difference between these two teams was eight points. Both qualified directly to the semi-finals because of their standings in the first part of the season. The Slovak university played against UMB Hockey team Banska Bystrica there, and Praha hosted UHT Sabers Oswiecim from Poland. These series did not bring a lot of drama and both favorites passed to the finals without the biggest problems.

Gladiators Trencin – UMB Hockey team Banska Bystrica 4-1 (1-0, 3-0, 0-1)

Goals: Skvarka (2), Trencan, Paricka – Soltes.

Goaltenders: Dusak – Gasparovic.

 

Gladiators Trencin – UMB Hockey team Banska Bystrica 3-0 (3-0, 0-0, 0-0)

Goals: Smolka (2), Skvarka.

Goaltenders: Dusak – Gasparovic.

Serie: 2-0

UK Praha – UHT Sabers Oswiecim 5-0

 

UK Praha – UHT Sabers Oswiecim 7-4 (1-2, 3-2, 3-0)

Goals: Vesely (2), Svoboda (2), Kopica, Svejda, Vala – Yerassov, Piankrat, Protsenko, Dudkiewicz.

Goaltenders: Yildirim – Kaczkowski.

Serie: 2-0

The finals are played for three winning games. Gladiators Trencin and UK Praha played against each other this season once. Trencin won at the home stadium 15:2. The second match was forfeited in favor of Prague. The current titleholder is UMB Hockey Team Banska Bystrica and the club with the most championship trophies is UK Praha with 4 wins. It is going to be a big fight between the two most successful clubs in the EUHL this season, but only one of them can be the winner.
