The historical moment of the establishment of the Czech and Slovak University Hockey Association in cooperation with the European University Hockey Association

The Czech and Slovak University Hockey Associations have been set up to protect, promote and represent their common interests of the student – athlete in Europe.

Individual members of newly established associations with the names of ACUH – Association of Czech University Hockey and SUHA – Slovak University Hockey Association will mutually develop their mutual partnership through mutual support in joint activities within the university ice hockey movement in the Czech Republic and Slovakia under the EUHA – European University Hockey Association. By signing a Memorandum of Cooperation and Mutual Recognition between Associations members Ales Bachanek – ACUH, Lubomír Sekeras – SUHA and Jaroslav Straka – EUHA, a historic moment was made between the athlete student and the university, a dual career in the regular EUHL competition, which has been active in Europe for 6 years.

The newly established associations will be the only one to manage university hockey in the Czech Republic and Slovakia under the EUHA’s parent organization. Both associations declare a common goal of combining and creating a functional link between hockey and the opportunity to study, thereby becoming equal partners with the same rights and obligations. At the same time, the creation of a framework for mutual co-operation will be jointly promoted in hockey sport activities, with an emphasis on the interconnection of education and ice hockey in both countries. Associations will only manage university hockey in the relevant country.

Six years ago, both the Czech and Slovak University Teams were at the birth of EUHL – the European University Ice Hockey League and its governing body of the EUHA Association.

EUHA currently cooperates with the national federations CSLH (Czech Hockey) & SZLH (Hockey Slovakia) and has recently agreed to cooperate not only with Czech and Slovak ice hockey associations, but has also recently signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding where, at a very special moment, representatives of European University Hockey Association (EUHA), the Russian Student Hockey League (RSHL) and the American Association Collective Hockey (ACHA) meet at one table. By signing this Memorandum with American and Russian Associations, EUHA became the only intercontinental accepted association in the field of university hockey development in Europe.
